We encourage all children at Hexham First to wear school uniform. We believe it is more economical for parents and gives children a sense of belonging.
The wearing of jewellery, apart from watches, is prohibited for safety reasons. If you intend your child to have a piercings carried out, then it would be appropriate for this to be done at the beginning of the summer holiday, when the six week period would allow the pierced body part to settle down before returning to school. If the child does attend school wearing studs or ear rings they will be asked to cover the jewellery with tape. At no time will a member of staff apply the tape, remove or reinsert the jewellery. We have been advised by Wentworth Leisure Centre that any child wearing jewellery will not be allowed to take part in their swimming lesson. No responsibility is accepted for the safe keeping of any jewellery, the care of such items remains totally with the owner. The policy is well supported by parents.
